Introducing the Sherborne Scarf

Introducing the Sherborne Scarf

The Gothic style architecture can be seen in the Abbey Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in Sherborne, England, more commonly called Sherborne Abbey. The Abbey is know for it's bells, choir and ceiling.
The Sherborne Scarf echos the diamond detail of the Sherborne Abbey ceiling. This scarf, which uses lace-weight wool and super-fine kid mohair, is made of mitered squares and mitered triangles built on the previous one, no sewing required. You can personalize it by adding more colors to use up leftover bits of yarn, adding more squares for a super long scarf, or changing the yarns for a chunky look. The possibilities are endless.
It is also a simple way to experiment with the mitered square patterns in A Knitter's Gallery of Mitered Squares. Just swap out the mitered square pattern for a different one in the book, or use several in one scarf.
The best part is, Shreborne Scarf is free pattern for 'liking' us on Facebook or subscribing to this blog. Already a friend or subscriber? Like this post on Facebook or comment on this blog and we'll send you a link.

  4. Love this... do you do a lot of designs based on architectural images? When will the book be available?

    1. Thank you. It's the start of a new line with an architectural theme. The book is available on Ravelry now. Will be available in print in 2014.
